Maroon 5 inspired by 80s rockers Journey

Maroon 5 has revealed that they want to chart the career path of the American rock band Journey.

Washington: Maroon 5 has revealed that they want to chart the career path of the American rock band Journey.
The ‘Payphone’ band want to be like the 80s rockers, who’s track ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ was a minor hit when originally released in 1981, but a huge worldwide hit when it was re-released in 2008 after being used in TV shows.
“We’re counting on the cultural feedback loop to pull a Journey on us. Journey wasn’t cool,” Contactmusic quoted Adam Levine as telling Details magazine. “Now I can’t go out one night without somebody screaming the words to that f***ing song. That’s what we’re banking on. We’ll play Coachella festival in 15 years,” he said. The 33-year-old singer is aware that many people don’t perceive his band as cool, or groundbreaking, but they have their own sound, which is different to other bands. “A lot of people perceive our music as very safe, but it was a reaction to the conformity I was rebelling against,” he said. When I graduated high school, I moved to the east side of Hollywood and everyone was hip and cool. “Everybody wanted to be the Strokes, and I wanted to sound like Michael Jackson and write pop songs. Maroon 5 may not be groundbreaking--we’re not f***ing Arcade Fire--but we did s**t other bands weren’t really getting down with,” he added. ANI
