Bob Hoskins retires from acting after Parkinson’s diagnosis

London: Bob Hoskins has announced that he is retiring from acting after a “wonderful career” at the age of 69, after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

“Bob Hoskins wishes to announce that he will be retiring from acting, following his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease last autumn,” the Independent quoted Hoskins’s agent as saying in a statement. “He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career. “Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time,” the statement read. The Suffolk-born actor, whose career spanned four decades, was most recently seen in the movie ‘Snow White and The Huntsman,’ in which he played one of the seven dwarves opposite Kristen Stewart. Hoskins, who built his reputation on the stage in the 1960s, has been acclaimed for his performance as Harold Shand, the East End gangster on the make in the 1980 underworld movie, ‘The Long Good Friday.’ ANI
