I find it boring to repeat myself: Peter Dinklage

Cancun: He has found global fame as Tyrion Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones’ but Peter Dinklage, who stars with Adam Sandler in 3D comedy ‘Pixels’, says he is careful about not repeating his roles.

Dinklage has earned an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of Tyrion, a member of House Lannister in the fictional kingdom of Westeros.

Tyrion, known as author G R R Martin's finest creation, uses his humour and wit to counter derision from everyone for being a dwarf in the popular series. He is one of the most loved characters in the novels and on the HBO show, which just finished its fifth season run.

Dinklage, 46, said he likes to mix his roles and that was one of the reasons to accept Chris Columbus' "Pixels", about a bunch of arcade games champions who are called to save the world from an alien attack in the movie.

"It's been my job now for about five or six years, and it's a pretty serious show (Game of Thrones)... I don't like to bore myself in terms of like pigeonholing myself or repeating anything, so I love jumping into something like this (Pixels)," Dinklage told reporters at the Summer of Sony press junket here.

The actor, whose film credits include ‘Death At A Funeral’, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian’, ‘A Little Bit of Heaven’ and ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, said he get a lot of offers to play roles similar to Tyrion.

"It's such a joy to mix it up. I don't want to bore anyone, least of all myself, in terms of repeating roles. The last thing you want to do when you do 'Game of Thrones' is to do something 'Game of Thrones'-like, and you get a lot of those offers and you're like, 'I'm good.' I do a really good version of that genre. I don't need to do Beast Master on my time off. So when something like this (Pixels) comes along it's a no-brainer," he added.

Apart from Sandler, who also produced the movie, and Dinklage, the sci-fi, animated comedy stars Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad and Brian Cox.

In the film, intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war. They attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults.

Former arcade games champions are called by the US President to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders.

The Columbia Pictures movie is slated to hit the screens on July 31 in 3D.
