Mumbai: VJ-turned-actor Aditya Roy Kapur, who will be next seen in Mohit Suri`s `Aashiqui 2`, was left disappointed when his films- `London Dreams`, `Action Replayy` and `Guzaarish`, did not fare well at the box office.
Before his big screen debut, Aditya was a VJ on a music channel, where his comic timing and unique style of hosting made him a hit.
He made his debut as a Pakistani musician in Vipul Shah`s 2009 musical `London Dreams`, where he co-starred Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan and Asin.
"When I was a VJ people told me I will be an actor, I used to laugh. I had never thought I would be an actor. When you are on TV people do call for auditions for films and all. I looked at it as a fun thing and got role in `London Dreams`, I accepted the offer," Aditya said in an interview here.
"I never looked at it as career, I did it for fun. It was about having a new experience. I had good time, enjoyed it. Half the people did not know I was a VJ so there was no image made for me, I was a fresh face," he said.
Although his debut film `London Dreams` bombed at the box office, it made Aditya realise he wanted to continue acting.
He went on to do yet another film with Shah- `Action Replayy` alongside Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and then Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s `Guzaarish`.
Unfortunately all the three films where Aditya was seen in a supporting role, failed to click with the audience.
"I never looked at it (`London Dreams`) like my launch pad. I just did it for fun and experience. My expectations were not high so my disappointments were also not low. But then it was like you want your film do well," he said.
"But it did... And it was disappointing. You take it in a stride. I had got more serious about acting after I started doing `Action Replay` and `Guzaarish`... I was like this is going to be my profession and I was sad. The films that come up do not do well then I will be really sad," he added.
But the 27-year-old does not regret doing any of the films and insists he had great experience while working.
Today at a time when actors are coming on small screen, Aditya is happy to be where he is right now and feels it is right time to be in film industry.
Besides `Aashiqui 2`, Aditya will also be seen in Karan Johar`s home production `Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani` and Gautham Menon`s `Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau`.
