Sunrisers Hyderabad

186/8(20 Overs)

We are back for the chase! The players have made their out to the middle. Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson will open the batting for Hyderabad.

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then! Hyderabad need 208 runs to get back to winning ways! They do not have a brutal batting lineup but they have quality players who are capable of chasing this down. Stay tuned for the second essay.

Rovman Powell is down for a chat. He says that he was trying his best to hit sixes. Adds that he asked Warner at the start of the over whether he should take a single to let Warner hit a century but he told Powell to go for the shots. Informs that he had a chat with Pant before the game and he asked Pant to let him bat at number 5. Mentions that the surface is a good one to bat on and they need to bowl well and use the long boundaries to good effect. Tells that the target should be enough and c

Other than the first over of the innings, nothing really went Hyderbad's way. Bhuvneshwar Kumar did trouble the batters with his swing and he was also rewarded with a wicket. But post that it was all Delhi! All the bowlers were taken to the cleaners tonight. They sure did miss the services of T Natarajan. It was not just their bowling, but they were a bit sloppy on the field as well. However, they face a tough task ahead now, but not an impossible one.

Delhi did not get off to a great start, they lost Mandeep Singh in the first over, and soon lost Marsh as well. While wickets were falling at the other end, David Warner made sure to keep scoring runs and got a total of 50 at the end of the Powerplay. Pant perished after playing a cameo and post that Powell and Warner started firing and they made sure they kept the run rate above 9 an over till the end. The duo put together 122 runs and powered Delhi to a total of 207.

It's been an exuberant exhibition of power-hitting from Delhi! David Warner and Rovman Powell have put on a scintillating batting performance and have guided Delhi to a mammoth total of over 200. Not the best day in the field for Hyderabad! They have a mountain to climb from here now.

Umran Malik to Rovman Powell, So a bye to end the inings! A short ball, around off. Powell looks to pull but misses. The ball goes back to the keeper and the batters steal a bye. Delhi end with 207/3 after 20 overs!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, ! Finds the gap again and Warner goes into the 90s. 100 runs partnership comes up as well. A fullish delivery on middle and leg. Warner whips it towards deep square leg and find the gap as the ball races away towards the fence.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, ! Another boundary for Warner! The man was inside the circle at mid off. Warner makes room to this length delivery on middle and hammers it straight down the ground for a boundary.

Sean Abbott to Rovman Powell, Sean Abbott starts with a dot delivery! Lands on a length but it is outside off and just away from the arc of Rovman Powell who swing across the line and misses. The ball goes back to the keeper.

DRINKS! Two set-batters are on the crease for Delhi and both are very destructive batters. However, it is a high-scoring ground and pressure will be on Warner and Rovman Powell to go big in these last four overs. Hyderabad, on the other hand, don't have T Natarajan today and let's see how other bowlers go about their business in these death overs. Can Delhi get over 190 here? Sean Abbott is back on.

Umran Malik to David Warner, WIDE! Malik probably gets away with one there! Down the leg side, Warner looks to pull but misses.

Umran Malik to David Warner, ! That will take Warner to another fifty, his fourth fifty of this season! Malik goes slightly short and around off. Warner gets a tad across and pulls it powerfully towards the mid-wicket fence. He is looking like a man on mission and we might see a big one from the flamboyant left-hander today against his beloved, former team.

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, ! BOWLED! Can you believe it? After hitting some good balls over the ropes, Pant ends up getting an inside edge off a full toss and the ball shatters the stumps. He stands there in disbelief but he has to go and Gopal is pumped up. Gopal delivers a full toss, outside off. Pant looks to slash it away towards the off side but gets the inside edge and it ends up going on to hit the stumps. Just the wicket Hyderabad needed and what an over, 23 runs and a big wi

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, ! Three in three! Pant is on a roll here! Makes room and also comes down the track, gets to the pitch of it again and tonks it over long off.

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, ! Another one, this is much flatter but gets the same result. Flatter one on middle, Pant lofts it over long-off for a maximum.

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, ! BANG! That will release some pressure off Pant! A fuller ball, tosses it up, around middle. Rishabh Pant gets down on his knee and sweeps it high over deep square leg for a biggie. That is the longer side but Pant cleared that with ease!

Shreyas Gopal to David Warner, Fuller and on middle, Warner plays it towards mid-wicket and rotates the strike.

DRINKS! Delhi have lost two wickets but are going at a decent rate here. Warner is looking dangerous and if Pant settles in, Hyderabad bowlers will find it tough in the death overs. However, some wickets here and especially of these two will put keep the scoring rate under check. Shreyas Gopal's overs will be crucial in this middle phase and the leg-spinner has already started well but lets see how things pan out now.

Aiden Markram to David Warner, Takes one and keeps strike! Markram continues to leak runs, did so in the last game and now too. On middle, this is worked through mid-wicket for one.

Aiden Markram to David Warner, ! Over the fence! That not only releases the pressure from Warner and Delhi but also from Pant! This is right in the arc, fuller and on middle, Warner lofts it over the long on fence. Catch it was the call but it went well over the fielder.

Aiden Markram to David Warner, Fuller and on middle, this is hit hard down the ground towards long on. Just the one.

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, A dot to end a brilliant first over from Gopal! Just one from it. Pant is now on 2 from 9 balls. On the pads, Pant looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads.

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, Yet another dot! Shorter and outside off, Pant slaps it hard but to covers.

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, Another dot! Pressure building on Pant here! Shorter and outside off, this is guided to point.

Shreyas Gopal to Rishabh Pant, Pant will feel he probably missed out there! On the pads, Pant looks to sweep but can't beat short fine leg.

Time for some spin now. Shreyas Gopal is into the attack. Two left-handers are on the crease, so it will be an interesting battle.

Shreyas Gopal to David Warner, On the pads, this is worked through mid-wicket for one.

Shreyas Gopal to David Warner, Warner probably thought it was a leg spinner! On the pads, Warner leaves it alone thinking it would spindown the leg side. It hits his pad though.

Kartik Tyagi to David Warner, ! Takes full toll of the Free Hit! The key here was he did not try to hit it hard and hence, did not loose his shape! Shuffles across, Tyagi bowls a full toss outside off, Warner just guides it over point for a boundary.

Kartik Tyagi to Rishabh Pant, A dot to end but an expensive 6th over! On the pads, Pant looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. Pant has been a touch late on the deliveries. He is struggling against the pace of Kartik.

Kartik Tyagi to David Warner, Now takes one! Shorter and outside off, Warner waits and guides it through point for one. 50 up for Delhi. It has been a quick start for them.

Kartik Tyagi to David Warner, ! Thumped down the ground! That has been hit with a lot of power! Fuller and on off, this is hammered down to the long off fence. Stand and delivery! Back-to-back boundaries.

Kartik Tyagi to Rishabh Pant, Angled into the pads, Pant works it through square leg and gets to the other end. The siren goes on which means it is a no ball, Free Hit coming up.

Kartik Tyagi to Rishabh Pant, Beaten for pace again! Fuller and outside off, shaping away. Pant looks to drive but is beaten.

Kartik Tyagi to Rishabh Pant, That one zips through! What a delivery! Length and just outside off, Pant is late in getting his bat down. He is beaten, the ball just about goes past the off pole.

Kartik Tyagi comes on to bowl!

Sean Abbott to David Warner, Another dot to end! A really good comeback over then from Abbott. Another slower one, does not quite come off nicely from the surface. Warner looks to flick but gets an inside edge onto the body.

Sean Abbott to David Warner, Back of a length and on off, defended.

Sean Abbott to David Warner, Fuller now and on middle, Warner pushes it to mid on.

Sean Abbott to David Warner, WIDE! Had he got some bat on that one, would have been a boundary! Down the leg side, Warner looks to flick but misses. Pooran stops it well.

Sean Abbott to Rishabh Pant, That was a big chance of a run out! A yes-no situation but no harm done in the end! Length and on off, Pant pushes it towards cover, he takes off initially but then sees the cover fielder run to his left and dive, sends Warner back who is halfway down the wicket. The cover fielder though does not collect it and Williamson at mid off picks it up and has a shy but misses. No backing up so the single is eventually taken.

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi, walks out to bat at number 4.

Sean Abbott to Mitchell Marsh, ! TAKEN! That is an outstanding delivery. The ball though seemed like it held in the surface! On a length and around middle, this one holds in the surface a touch as it was the slower one. Marsh does not pick it, he looks to go hard after it, however, the ball goes off the splice and it ends up being an easy catch for the bowler who leaps and takes it. Much-needed wicket as these two were really starting to look good. Marsh just has not got going in this

Change of ends for Sean Abbott!

Sean Abbott to Mitchell Marsh, ! Shot! That is a very difficult shot to play and Marsh has played it with ease! Shorter and on off, Marsh stands tall, gets on top of the bounce and creams it through covers. This one races away to the fence.

Umran Malik to David Warner, ! Over the fence! Malik is just not learning here. End of a very big over and just the kind of one Delhi needed. Malik goes short again, Warner is waiting for it, he pulls it hard and over the fine leg fence for a biggie. It was flat buut carries all the way.

Umran Malik to David Warner, Gets it right this time, on a length and around middle, at 154 KPH. Defended.

Umran Malik to David Warner, ! Timed wonderfully! Not the best of starts for Umran Malik! This is on a length and around off, Warner shows the full face of the bat and times it through covers, this one races away.

Umran Malik to David Warner, ! Warner will have no problems with the short ones. For someone who comes from a place where the pitches tend to have good bounce and pace, this won't trouble him. This is short and on the body, Warner pulls it through square leg for a boundary.

Umran Malik to Mitchell Marsh, That has gone off the toe-end! Marsh swung way too early! He was waiting for the short ball and it came, seems to have come a little slow off the surface. Marsh looks to pull but it goes off the toe-end through covers for one.

Umran Malik to David Warner, FIVE WIDES! Not the best of starts by Malik! Not seen him bowl with the new ball a lot so this is a new challenge for him! He begins with one down the leg side, swings away further. Pooran should have taken it but it sneaks under his glove and down to the fine leg fence.

Umran Malik to David Warner, Shorter and on the body, this is pulled through square leg for one.

Umran Malik comes into the attack.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, Not a maiden as a single is taken on the last ball! Outside off, this is guided through point for one.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, Can this now be two maidens in a row for Kumar? He goes fuller and on middle, this is pushed to mid on.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, Another leave! Outside off, Warner watches the ball closely and leaves it alone.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, Brilliant stuff! He is moving the ball both the ways and causing a lot of problems! The line though is a little too straight, Warner misses the flick and gets hit on the pads.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, BEATEN! That is another beauty! Gets it to shape away from a length and after landing it on off. Warner looks to push at it but is beaten.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, Warner was watchful there! This is an away swinger, outside off, Warner lets it go to the keeper.

Sean Abbott to Mitchell Marsh, A dot to end but an expensive start by Abbott! Angled into the pads, Marsh looks to flick but misses to get hit high on the pads.  There is an appeal from the bowler but it is a rather optimistic one as it is clearly going down leg.

Sean Abbott to David Warner, A little too straight, gets away with it, Warner only manages to work it towards fine leg for one.

Sean Abbott to Mitchell Marsh, Fuller this time and on middle, Marsh pushes it towards mid off for one.

Sean Abbott to David Warner, Now follows it with a run as he pushes this fuller one towards mid off.

Sean Abbott to David Warner, ! Almost another wicket! That is a really good attempt in the cover region. This is wide outside off, fuller, Warner looks to hit it on the up, it goes uppishly but just wide of the diving cover fielder and into the fence. Off the mark with a boundary are Delhi and Warner.

Sean Abbott to Mitchell Marsh, ! That is smacked away! Trademark Marsh! This is slightly short, he just picks the length early on such deliveries, hammers it through square leg for a boundary.

Sean Abbott will bowl from the other end.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mitchell Marsh, End of a brilliant first over by Kumar. A wicket maiden! On off, this is defended.

Mitchell Marsh walks out to bat at number 3.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mandeep Singh, ! EDGED AND TAKEN! There is the early wicket Hyderabad wanted. Mandeep Singh had no clue about which way the ball was moving, he was struggling on the previous deliveries and finally falls. Not a good return back into the team for him. This is now the away swinger, shapes away after landing on off. Singh lunges out to defend but it goes off the outside edge and it is taken by the keeper, Nicholas Pooran safely.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mandeep Singh, Good swing again but this is a little too down the leg side. This one tails back in from middle, hits the pad of Mandeep as he tries to flick.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mandeep Singh, Really good bowling! Got the last two to go away, this time gets it back in from outside off. Singh looks to flick but is late on the shot. Misses to get hit high on the pads.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mandeep Singh, Yet again not the right line, well outside off, shaping away. Left alone.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mandeep Singh, Nice away swing for Kumar to begin with! Length and around off, this shapes away. Easy leave.

We are ready for action! The players are out in the middle. David Warner and Mandeep Singh will open the batting for Delhi. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will begin the proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

... MATCH DAY …

Games are moving along quickly as we welcome you to the coverage of the 50th game of this year’s Indian T20 League and it is a clash between two sides in desperate need of a win, Hyderabad and Delhi. The former began brilliantly but now are on a losing run. Delhi on the other hand, have lacked consistency so far in this tournament. Both enter this game on the back of a defeat and will be eager to get to winning ways. Who will do so?

Kevin Pietersen is down near the pitch. He says that the outfield is like a carpet here, one side is short while the other side is long. Adds that Kuldeep Yadav has had some success here, and he has bowled slower on this wicket. Tells that batters will enjoy on this pitch. Further adds that there are chances of dew which means the captain winning the toss will bowl first.

UPDATE -  Prithvi Shaw has not made it to the ground due to some illness and he will miss the game tonight. Who will open alongside David Warner?

David Warner is up against his former team, the team that he has captained to the title win in 2016. He surely knows a lot about this Hyderabad team and its management and it was quite a bitter end to his stay in the Hyderabad camp last year. Will all those things bring any impact on Warner’s performance and the overall result of this game? Warner will surely be eager to go out there in the field and make a statement. Let’s see how things pan out. Toss and team sheets coming up.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, ! Finds the gap again and Warner goes into the 90s. 100 runs partnership comes up as well. A fullish delivery on middle and leg. Warner whips it towards deep square leg and find the gap as the ball races away towards the fence.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Warner, A yorker on middle. Warner hits it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
