नई दिल्ली: भारत के पूर्व क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी वीरेंद्र सहवाग (Virender Sehwag) ने सोमवार को ट्विटर पर 2011 में आज ही के दिन हुई एक घटना के बारे में बताया और ऐसा करते हुए उन्होंने महान वैज्ञानिक आर्यभट को श्रद्धांजलि भी दी. महान आर्यभट ने ही शून्य की खोज की थी.
भारत ने 2011 में इंग्लैंड का दौरा किया था और इस सीरीज में मेजबान टीम ने 4-0 से क्लीन स्वीप किया था. इस दौरे पर बर्मिघम में हुए तीसरे टेस्ट मैच की दोनों परियों में सहवाग बिना कोई रन बनाए पवेलियन लौट गए थे. पहली पारी में उन्हें स्टुअर्ट ब्रॉड ने आउट किया था जबकि दूसरी पारी में उनका विकेट जेम्स एंडरसन को मिला.
इस घटना को याद करते हुए सहवाग ने ट्वीट किया, "आज के दिन आठ साल पहले, मैं बर्मिघम में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ दो बार शून्य पर आउट हुआ था यह सब तब हुआ जब मैं दो दिन का सफर तय करने के बाद इंग्लैंड पहुंचा और फिर 188 ओवर फील्डिंग की. आर्यभट्ट को श्रद्धांजलि. यदि असफल होने का प्रतिशत जीरो हो तो आप क्या करेंगे? अगर आपने जान लिया है तो ऐसा करें."

उस मैच में भारतीय टीम पहली पारी में 224 और दूसरी पारी में 244 रन बनाए थे जबकि मेजबान टीम ने पहली पारी में सात विकेट के नुकसान पर 710 रन जड़े थे. इंग्लैंड ने मैच पारी और 242 रनों से अपने नाम किया.
