New Delhi: The All India Students` Association (AISA) on Friday celebrated the rollback of the controversial four year undergraduate programme (FYUP) of the Delhi University, announced by the varsity`s Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh earlier in the day.
AISA members took out a victory march from the Arts Faculty to the Vice-Chancellor`s residence in the University`s campus and raised slogans demanding removal of Singh.
"We are happy with FYUP being scrapped. University administration should immediately start admission process under the three-year undergraduate programme," DU`s AISA president Rahul Mishra said.
Ending the four-day deadlock over admission to the FYUP, Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh relented under UGC`s pressure and scrapped the course today.
"Scrapping FYUP is the result of the efforts of students and teachers who had been protesting against it for over a year. Our next demand is that VC should be removed from his post as due to `his drama`, thousands of students had to suffer a lot of problems," he said.
