New Delhi: An Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) professor triggered a controversy after he allegedly said that “madrassas are dens of vice and homosexuality”.
Waseem Raja, a History Department professor at AMU, sent a WhatsApp message to a television channel alleging that maulanas should be blamed for “such activities”, , as per report in The Times of India.
The chat grabs reportedly states, “We want removal of madarsa...Where homo sexuality is rampant...Maulanas are part of it.”
He added that madrassas should be banned.
However, Raja has denied making any such statement.
Meanwhile, the students of AMU have condemned the statement and took to social media to lodge their protest.
