Tamang`s wife new chief of All India Gorkha League

Darjeeling: The widow of slain Gorkha leader
Madan Tamang has been appointed as the new chief of the All
India Gorkha League, party sources said on Wednesday.

The All India Gorkha League, which met last night,
appointed Bharati Tamang as the party`s new chief after the
assassination of her husband who was heading the party, they
said.
Bharati had met Governor M K Narayanan at the Raj
Bhawan yesterday and demanded a CBI probe into the killing of
her husband.

Madan Tamang, who had raised a voice of dissent against
the GJM, was killed in the heart of the town on May 21 at a
party rally.
Tamang was opposed to the GJM`s stand on an interim
set-up for Darjeeling hills pending setting up of a separate
state and demanded Gorkhaland instead.
