Karachi, Dec 15: Islamists in Pakistan today said that the capture of fallen Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein at the weekend would not deter guerrillas from attacking US troops on an almost daily basis.

Karachi, Dec 15: Islamists in Pakistan today said that the capture of fallen Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein at the weekend would not deter guerrillas from attacking US troops on an almost daily basis.
"The Americans will not have an easy way out in Iraq despite the arrest of Hussain," said Mufti Mohammad Jamil, spokesman of Federation of Madaris (seminaries).

Qazi Hussein Ahmed, who heads Pakistan's largest Islamic party Jamaat-i-Islami, said US policies towards Muslims in Afghanistan and the Palestinian territories as well as Iraq in the name of war on terror had created extremist trends.

Students of Islamic seminaries were disappointed Saddam allowed himself to be captured.

"He should have opted to be called as martyr....He should have blown himself up instead of showing his teeth, hair or beard to the infidels," said a student of Karachi's Jamia Farooquia Islamic School.

He said that the anti-US campaign "now definitely will have hiccups."
