Islamabad, May 24: A senior US diplomat met with Pakistani defense officials to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in defense and other
fields, officials said today.
Lincoln P Bloomfield, Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, met with Pakistani defense secretary Hamid Nawaz and other senior military and air force
officials.
The two sides discussed ``matters of mutual interest,''
according to a statement released by Pakistan's military. It
did not give any details.
Earlier this week, US Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control Stephen G Rademaker held meetings with Pakistani officials in the capital.
Pakistan is a key ally of the United States in the war on terror. Pakistani President Gen Pervez Musharraf is scheduled to meet US President George W Bush at Camp David
on June 24.
