Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ sequel to hit floors in 2010

Mumbai, Feb 09: Farhan Akhtar’s luck is shining brighter than ever as the multi-talented B-town hottie is dancing on every ‘chance’. After being repeatedly delayed and caught in starry tussles with producers of two big banners fighting at the loggerheads, the jinxed sequel of Akhtar’s ‘Don’ will finally hit floors in 2010.The sequel was stalled over a number of reasons from Shah Rukh’s supposed back out to a war between the producers of the 1970’s hit Iranis and Excel Entertainment. However, after some negotiations and talks, Akhtar’s film seems to be getting on the right track. Reports reveal that even though SRK wasn’t too keen to be a part of the sequel, he didn’t completely rule out the possibility. The film, however, came to a standstill when Excel Entertainment decided to put ‘Don 2’ on the backburner after reports of Amitabh acting in the sequel to his yesteryear classic ‘Don’ hit stalls. Apparently, the producers of the 1970’s film Nadeem Irani and Nasir Irani had laid out extensive plans to make a sequel of the Amitabh starrer. But things went wary when due to certain unknown reasons, no official word came from the Iranis. And taking advantage of the opportunity, Excel has now given a green signal to Farhan. Grapevine has it that Akhtar is sticking to his original cast for the flick. The sequel will once again have Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani in lead roles. Sources tell us that even as the producers were not so upbeat about Priyanka as she had failed to live up to the hype surrounding her presence in the earlier flick, they decided to go to her for the sequel. A news daily even quoted a source as saying, "Authorities at Excel Entertainment were not too sure if they should go with Priyanka, but lately Priyanka has become a big name after delivering back-to-back hits – ‘Fashion’ and ‘Dostana’ and has also bagged the best actress award recently. The decision confirming Priyanka`s presence in ‘Don 2’ was taken only recently".
