New York is chilly in January. As everything freezes in the bitter cold, a man's heart-warming act of kindness has held up the eternal hope of the mankind – all is not list!
Empathy isn’t easy, especially when it involves putting oneself in discomfort to comfort another soul.
A man, known only as Jay, has shown us the way. It was a chilly night when Jay while travelling on a subway train encounters a man – possibly homeless – who wasn't wearing a shirt and looked unwell.
A video of the episode posted on Facebook by one Lazaro Nolasco shows Jay taking off his own shirt – leaving him in only an undershirt – and giving it to his fellow passenger.
When Jay realised that the unwell man was finding it difficult to put the shirt on, Jay returned and helped the man in wearing it. Jay left, only to return again and give the man his beanie.
Think of Jay's act for one second...will you have reacted the way he reacted to the situation?
It's difficult to do it, isn’t it?
True empathy is not just about feeling for other but going ahead and doing what's needed.
Here's sending out a hope – let there be more Jays in this world.
