Big blow to WhatsApp! Several top company executives move their account to Signal
This has led to a lot of discontent among users, leading to fear that now their privacy might be compromised, with many users switching to rival Signal. Since then, Signal has seen a significant surge in new users signing up for its platform.
WhatsApp has recently updated its new Terms and Privacy Policy emphasising that users will be required to agree to it or else they may need to delete their account post February 8.
Tata Group chairman N Chandrasekaran has been using Signal for some time. Tata group’s senior leadership has also moved to Signal, it has been learnt.
It has been reported in the media that Mahindra and Mahindra group chairman Anand Mahindra has also installed Signal.
Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Phone Pe co-founder Sameer Nigam and CRED founder Kunal Shah have also begun using Signal.
The encrypted messaging app saw massive surge after Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, tweeted to his 41.5 million followers to use Signal and apparently shun WhatsApp.
