Mahindra Thar receives 55,000 bookings, check waiting period here: In Pics

New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown car manufacturer, revealed that the company has so far received over 55,000 bookings for Thar SUV. In April 2020, the automaker had noted that the bookings for Thar crossed the 50,000 mark.

Since its launch in October 2020, Thar has become one of the top-selling cars in its category. For Mahindra, Thar’s bumper sale has provided some respite amid the pandemic that has led to a massive loss to most of the car manufacturers in India and abroad. 

Taking note of the bumper bookings, Mahindra has already started working to fast track its manufacturing production capacity at its two facilities in Nasik. The automaker is also negotiating at the supplier-end to reduce the waiting period for its customer amid growing demand for the SUV.

Mahindra Thar’s base model, AX Opt 4-Str Convert Top Diesel, is currently priced at Rs Rs 12,31,681 while AX Opt 4-Str Convert Top (Petrol) is priced at Rs 12,11,680. Both rates are ex-showroom Delhi. 

The newly launched Mahindra Thar is powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi Petrol engine. The diesel variant is powered with a 2.2-litre mHawk Diesel engine. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and 6-speed manual transmission coupled to an authentic manual shift-on-the-fly 4x4 transfer case.

If you are currently planning to buy a Mahindra Thar, you’ll have to be patient because the SUV now comes with a 10 months-long waiting period.
