All-new Toyota Prius unveiled globally, gets Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) variants - Detailed Image Gallery: IN PICS

Toyota Prius was first launched in 1997 as the world's first mass-produced hybrid car and with a total cumulative sales of 5.05 million units, it's the world's best-selling Hybrid vehicle. 

Toyota, the Japanese automaker has now unveiled the all-new fifth-generation Prius for the first time globally and now gets Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) models.

The new Toyota Prius gets more stylish design with low center of gravity, large-diameter 19-inch wheels and is based on the second-generation TNGA platform.

The new Prius comes with Toyota's first 2.0-litre Plug-in Hybrid System with 223 PS output, while maintaining the same level of fuel efficiency as the previous model. 

The Series Parallel Hybrid System in the Toyota Prius gets 193 PS output for the 2.0-litre version, which is 1.6 times higher than the previous model.

The Toyota Prius gets first illuminated warning system, ambient light, Toyota Safety Sense-linked, black tones for cabin giving a balance between sportiness and sophistication.

The Toyota Prius comes with the latest E-Four system with improved uphill performance on low-friction road surfaces, like snow-covered roads, and greater stability when turning.
