Lara's men have Kentucky Fried Chicken for Champions Trophy

New Delhi, Oct 04: The West Indies cricket team yesterday heaved a huge sigh of relief after KFC stepped in as their

team sponsors for the Champions Trophy. The Caribbeans have communications company Digicel as their long term team sponsors but the players would not be able to display that logo during the biennial event due to ambush marketing rules of the ICC. ICC has 'Hutch', another telecom major, as their global sponsors and players from participating are prevented from endorsing rival products during an ICC event. KFC also sponsor a domestic tournament in the West Indies. The world's largest chain of chicken restaurants also launched a promotional event coinciding with the sponsorship. The 'Bucket Mein Cricket' contest, which will run till Oct 31, gives 50 winners, selected through a lucky draw, an opportunity to lunch with Brian Lara and Co., and 10 other winners will receive a cricket bat signed by the team. The contest applies to eight cities, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore. Bureau Report
