New Delhi: After bagging four silver medals and a bronze in the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Indian pugilists will be down to business once again as the trials for the upcoming Asian Games will be held at NIS Patiala from August 9.
Though the ad-hoc boxing committee has charted out the trial schedule to select Elite (Senior) men`s and women`s team for the Incheon, South Korea challenge between September 19 and October 4, it has got the full support of the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
All core group boxers will participate in the trials at the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports as women core group boxers, who are currently practicing at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in the national capital, will join their male counterparts, who are already training in Patiala. India will field a full strength men`s team in all the weight categories while women pugilists will feature in 3 weight groups -- 51 kg, 60 kg and 75 kg -- that are approved by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) for the Incheon Asian Games, the ad-hoc committee chairman Tarlochan Singh informed in a press release.
