Tokyo Olympics: Five prominent Indian athletes test positive for COVID-19
SAI had conducted Covid-19 RT-PCR tests both in Patiala and for the National Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Of the 313 tests done in Patiala, 26 were positive while 428 tests were conducted in Bengaluru, and four returned positive. All five athletes are in isolation and will undergo 14 days of quarantine.

All SAI coaches to take age-appropriate fitness tests twice in year
Stressing on the importance of fitness among coaches and the decision of SAI to implement the fitness tests, SAI said in a statement, "Sports Authority of India is primarily responsible for the training of athletes through expert coaches. Fitness of coaches is one of the essential ingredients for them to impart fruitful training on the field. Coaches need to maintain a certain level of fitness so as to show the path of progress to the athletes. Therefore, coaches have been advised to undertake the physical fitness assessment as per the protocol twice a year." These fitness tests have been drafted by a committee of experts, who after a detailed discussion and review finalised the fitness protocols for each age group.

Speaking about the significance of the new SAI logo, Rijiju said that SAI has been the leader in the sports ecosystem and the primary agent of promoting sporting excellence. "It has given athletes necessary support so that they have their sporting careers can take-off smoothly and they can fly towards a life of achievements and sporting glory - that is what the flying figure indicates - the freedom an athlete gets to leapfrog his/her career in SAI," expressed Rijiju. Shuttler Chirag Shetty highlights benefits of running at Fit India Freedom Run
Organised by the Sports Ministry, Fit India Freedom Run is the largest country-wide run, which began on August 14 and will go on till October 2.
