Axis Bank cuts purchase plan to 17% from 29% in Max Life

Axis Bank currently holds about 1 per cent stake in Max Life and is the biggest banking channel partner for the distribution of the insurer's products. MFS holds 72.5 per cent stake in Max Life and Japan-based Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI) owns 25.5 per cent stake. Post completion of the series of transactions, Max Life will become an 82:18 joint venture between MFS and Axis Bank.

HDFC Life to merge with Max Life, set to become biggest private life insurer

Singalling more consolidation in the cluttered life insurance space, HDFC and Max groups Monday decided to merge their life insurance businesses to create the biggest private life insurer with combine asset base of Rs 1.1 lakh crore in a complex multi-stage share swap deal.
