M&M launches Scorpio, XUV500 with 1.99-liter diesel engine

New Delhi: If the Supreme Court ban on sale of cars and SUVs with 2,200cc engine in Delhi disappointed you, then take heart! 

Sports utility vehicle market leader Mahindra & Mahindra launched a sub-2,000cc diesel engine on Friday. This will enable the company to sell the Scorpio and XUV500 in Delhi-NCR.

According to the company, sale of the Scorpio and XUV500 with the new engine will begin selling in Delhi-NCR, followed by the sale in the rest of the country.

Following the Supreme Court judgment in mid-December all vehicles having diesel engines more than 2,000cc were barred from sales till March 31, 2016.

The new 1.99 litre engine on the Scorpio will deliver 120 HP, and 140 HP for the XUV500.
