Spotlight on northeast fashion at WIFW
In an attempt to promote fashion from the northeast, the Textiles Ministry and Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) have joined hands to organise a show dedicated to designs from the region on the first day of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week spring-summer 2013.

New Delhi: In an attempt to promote fashion from the northeast, the Textiles Ministry and Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) have joined hands to organise a show dedicated to designs from the region on the first day of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week spring-summer 2013.
"We are grateful to Kiran Dhingra, secretary textiles, for her patronage to northeast projects. This is a good example where the ministry of textiles and FDCI have teamed up to promote textiles from a particular region," Sunil Sethi, president of FDCI, in a statement.
Atsu Sekhose, a designer from northeast and one of the known names in the Indian fashion world, will showcase a contemporary collection that captures the flavour of the region, its textiles and intricate designs.
Sekhose has recently been bestowed with the Governor`s Award by the Nagaland Government for his contribution to the world of fashion.
Besides the show, there will also be stalls showcasing crafts from various designers from the North-East including, Manipur, Shillong, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh at the five-day extravaganza starting Saturday at Pragati Maidan.
