When it comes to international artists performing in India, the Delhi-NCR region seems to be jinxed as there is hardly any musician who was able to deliver a packed show in 2011. In February, Bryan Adams’ 15 February concert went kaput, courtesy Delhi Police as they were not satisfied with the arrangements made by the organizers at NSIC grounds, Okhla.
Well, things didn’t end here as another massive disappointment came to heavy metal fans in India when Metallica’s maiden gig in Delhi got cancelled at the eleventh hour. Metallica’s 28th November gig never took place in Gurgaon due to technical glitches and four organizers of Metallica’s Gurgaon concert were arrested for duping people.
And another dampener was Pitbull’s 2nd December Noida concert, where the rapper showed up five hours late at the venue and performed for only half-an-hour as opposed to three hours promised by the organisers. Lady Gaga’s F1 gig at LAP Buddh International Circuit and Tom Cruise’s visit to India was the silver lining in the cloud as both the stars kept their promise with India, especially its capital city.
