Mumbai: While it’s yet to be ascertained if his bachelorhood would have helped him grab this role, but if sources are to be believed, superstar Salman Khan has been approached to play the character of Lord Hanuman in the modern day re-telling of the mega epic Ramayana.
The mega budget flick is being made by Hollywood producer of Indian origin Uru Patel, and sources confirm that the filmmaker was very keen to cast none but Salman as Hanuman. So if things work out, Salman Khan will be Uru`s contemporary Hanuman - a super hero who can fly over mountains and skyscrapers to rescue Sita from the evil present-day Ravana. A source close to the project revealed that the role had initially been offered to Aamir Khan but “somehow, things did not materialise.” Uru`s Ramayana will see all the epic characters being reborn in 2012-13 in New York. The character of Ram and Ravana are said to have been offered to Hollywood stars Keanu Reeves and Gary Oldman respectively. As for role of Sita, the makers are in search for the right actress. “Uru wants to turn that dream into reality. Salman has shown interest. Things are being worked out but it`s not going to be easy putting the film together. The cost is going to be astronomical as well,” said the source.
