Ekta Kapoor backs Kamal Haasan, ‘Vishwaroopam’

Mumbai: Ekta Kapoor is not just a queen of soaps and serials; she is far more influential. The TV/films producer has decided to lend a helping hand to veteran actor-director Kamal Haasan, who is all set to release his latest bilingual ‘Vishwaroopam’. Haasan’s decision to premiere his film on a direct-to-home (DTH) medium has offended multiplex owners. The thespian is scheduled to have a meeting with people in the distribution fraternity to ease the tension and put his views across. Talking to TOI, a source close to Ekta Kapoor said, “Ekta wants to convince everybody that releasing a film on the DTH platform will not adversely affect the business of multiplexes.” Even lyricist Javed Akhtar will be batting in favour of Haasan and convince multiplex owners to co-operate and screen his film that is slated to release next month.
