Chennai: In a bid to seek votes in RK Nagar by-elections, the O Panneerselvam camp has paraded a dummy coffin of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa, inviting strong disapproval from a section of the public.
Their poll symbol, electricity pole with two lamps, was placed on top of the coffin, which carried a dummy body of Amma, the News18.com reported.
"It's disgusting to use replica of Amma's dead body. It is an insult to the memory of Amma," the report quoted TTV Dinakaran, Sasikala's nephew who heads the other faction, said.
The OPS camp have been raising questions over Amma's sudden death and had even demanded a CBI probe.
Last Thursday, Dinakaran had filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the OPS camp over misusing of poll symbol.
The Panneerselvam camp had released a campaign video where the two-leaves symbol of the AIADMK was seen being superimposed on their current symbol.
Dinakaran has registered the complaint along with the copy of the campaign video to the Election Commission of India.
