Dave Grohl's fractured leg makes Foo Fighters cancel Glastonbury gig

London: Foo Fighters have backed out of their headline slot at this year's Glastonbury Festival after frontman Dave Grohl fractured his leg.

The rock group made the announcement on their website four days after Grohl fell off stage at a concert in Sweden, following doctors' verdict that the 46-year-old musician, who underwent surgery, needed time to recuperate, the BBC has reported.

Also, dates in Belgium, Edinburgh and London's Wembley Stadium have been cancelled.

It was during the band's performance at the Ullevi stadium last Friday, when Grohl mistimed a jump onto a ramp and fell into the gap between the stage and audience.

However, they continued the show after medics bandaged Grohl's leg, with the singer performing in a chair.

Grohl apologised for the cancellation sharing a photo of the "six metal screws in my leg", saying that though he hated the decision, it was "physically impossible" for him to perform, adding that they were doing their best to plan something out.

Glastonbury, who hasn't announced a replacement headliner yet, said in a statement they hope for a full and speedy recovery for Grohl.
