Mumbai: In ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’, Sharman Joshi`s first solo-hero film releasing June 15, the talented actor plays an interesting Parsi character - and a plump one at that, with a very pointed, sharp nose and popping ears. Sharman says he enjoyed the role.
"We worked on many physicalities. The character is based in a Parsi family. Thanks to my sharp nose, I look like a Parsi. We sharpened the nose even more and popped out the ears. I put on about 8 to 10 kg of weight," Sharman told IANS.
"The emotional quotient of being gentle, honest and always smiling took some time to come. There were also workshops and, of course, I was on a holiday in terms of my diet," he added.
Debutant director Rajesh Mapushkar wielded the megaphone for the film to tell the story of a father, his son and the Ferrari.
It is Sharman`s first solo hero film, ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’.
He seems to be confident about his performance and says: "As an actor what is most important is that you should be in a relaxed state of mind. You should have faith in yourself. I enjoyed myself. I didn`t put any pressure of the solo role or the fact that it is a very big film. This was my approach so that I could give my best."
The actor has earlier impressed viewers with his performance in ‘3 idiots’, ‘Life in a ..Metro’ and ‘Golmaal’. He feels a film`s script should be informative and entertaining.
"Scripts have to have out-of-the-box ideas; they should be entertaining and reach the largest number of audience. If they can give a social message also, along with the entertainment quotient, it is great," he says.
Sharman says he has always been fascinated with Ferrari and enjoyed spending time with the car during the shooting for ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’.
"I have always been fascinated with the car - the way it looks, its design and the way it drives. It is an object of desire for all of us. I was fortunate to drive this machine. It`s beautiful," Sharman said.
Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’, set to release June 15, also features Boman Irani.
The Ferrari used in the film belongs to ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who has reportedly done a cameo in the film.
"Michael Schumacher had gifted the Ferrari to Sachin and we have used the same Ferrari. That`s all I can say about him. To find out whether he is in the film or not, you will have to watch the film," said Sharman.
Asked about his other projects, he said: "There is a film being produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, directed by Tanuja Chandra. It is a love triangle and we should start the work on that by the end of this year."
