From porn to ‘Bigg Boss’

The last year saw a major influx of reality shows on television with ‘KBC 5’ and ‘Bigg Boss 5’ ruling the roost. The participants who were yet unknown figures shot to limelight like never before.

Before November 16, Sunny Leone, who was born to Punjabi parents in Canada and now lives in the US, aroused little interest in India and search queries about her were so small that Google didn’t even show it on the chart. However, after November 16, four days before she entered the reality TV show, the number of people searching for ‘Sunny Leone’ saw an explosive increase. She also generated highest number of search query from small cities in India like Bhubaneswar, Ludhiana and Bhopal. Sunny Leone instantly became the second highest search string on Google after she entered in India’s most watched reality show ‘Big Boss 5’.
