Himachal Pradesh government has denotified 16 State Highways to 'Major District Roads', days after the Supreme Court order banning liquor vends within 500 metres of national and state highways came into effect.

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government has denotified 16 State Highways to 'Major District Roads', days after the Supreme Court order banning liquor vends within 500 metres of national and state highways came into effect.

The Supreme Court in its March 31 order had said that liquor vends within 500 metres of national and state highways would have to shut down from April 1.

Recently, the apex court also reduced the distance from 500 meters to 220 meters in municipal areas having population less than 20,000.
