    Mumbai Indians

    103/5(14.5 Overs)

    ... The Run Chase ...

Not a big total and Mumbai should definitely fancy a win here. Chennai need a miracle to win this one and also to keep their playoff hopes alive. The chase is coming up soon.

Riley Meredith is up for a chat. He says that it was a terrific effort and everyone bowled well. Tells that the ball was swinging in the 7-8th over and that is unusual but he is not complaining. Mentions that the ball before the wicket ball of Rayudu was a loose delivery and he got lucky in the next ball to get an inside edge. Tells that the pace on deliveries were troubling the batters so he did not ball many off-pace deliveries today.

This is Mumbai at its best! What a bowling display it was from the five-time champions. The surface was assisting the seamers and Mumbai used it with utmost perfection to bundle out Chennai for just 97. They started well and build the pressure early on and got the reward quickly. Rohit Sharma shuffled the pack quite nicely and apart from Hrithik Shokeen, everyone was in the wickets column. Daniel Sams was the pick with three wickets. A superb display from Mumbai!

A really sub-standard batting from Chennai. No doubt they will be disappointed with it. It was filled with poor shot selections and not building a partnership in the middle. They were 5 down inside Powerplay and it was always what Dhoni does from thereon. He and Bravo did well to calm things down but Bravo never looked settled. He fell and the pressure was on Dhoni who did his best to help his team reach a below-par total, their bowlers have a tough job in hand now.

Riley Meredith to MS Dhoni, ! RUN OUT! Ohh...in a bid to keep Dhoni on the strike in the next over, Mukesh Choudhary charges towards the bowler's end to steal a bye but fails to make it as Ishan Kishan nails a direct hit at the batter's end. It is a short ball on middle. Dhoni ducks under it and the batters try to steal a bye but Ishan Kishan who is aware nails a direct hit and Chennai are bowled out for 97!

A run out appeal! Looks like Mukesh Choudhary is in danger and a single frame is enough to make the decision.

Riley Meredith to MS Dhoni, Back of a length again, around off. Dhoni cuts it to point this time.

Riley Meredith to MS Dhoni, ! Dhoni with a biggie! Riley Meredith is not learning and bowls it short on middle. Dhoni pulls it over deep square leg for a maximum. This is vintage Dhoni, team is staring down the barrel and MSD delivers!

Riley Meredith to MS Dhoni, Back of a length, on off. Dhoni goes back and blocks it calmly.

Riley Meredith to MS Dhoni, On the shorter side again, around off. Dhoni punches it to point.

Riley Meredith to MS Dhoni, ! Chennai are on the back foot but Dhoni is making sure that they have at least something to bowl at. A shorter delivery on middle and leg. Dhoni is ready for that pulls it towards deep backward square leg for a boundary.

    Riley Meredith is back on.

Daniel Sams to Mukesh Choudhary, Mukesh Choudhary negotiates the final ball and that means Dhoni will face the next over! A full toss on middle. Mukesh Choudhary just blocks it towards mid on.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, This time he takes a single! A short delivery on middle. Dhoni pulls it to deep square leg for a single.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, Single not taken again! Back of a length, around off. Dhoni punches it to covers.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, WIDE! Sams goes shorter but way outside off this time. Dhoni leaves it alone and a wide is called.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, Another good slower ball! Back of a length and outside off. Dhoni is early into his pull and misses it.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, Slower length delivery and angled across the batter. Dhoni looks to push it away but misses.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, Sams starts off with a slightly shorter delivery, around off. Dhoni cuts it to deep cover but does not take a single.

Ramandeep Singh to Mukesh Choudhary, EDGED BUT WIDE! ! Length and on off, Mukesh Choudhary looks to defend, this goes off the outside edge, past the diving Kishan and down to the third man fence. Chennai won't mind how they come as long as they do. They also need a lot more.

Ramandeep Singh to Mukesh Choudhary, On middle, defended.

Ramandeep Singh to Mukesh Choudhary, Short and outside off, left alone.

Mukesh Choudhary is the last man in.

Ramandeep Singh to Maheesh Theekshana, ! TAKEN! Number 9 down and Ramandeep Singh gets a wicket! Length and on off, Maheesh Theekshana looks to hit it on the up over covers. It goes off the splice and straight to Rohit Sharma in that position.

DRINKS! It seemed for a while that Bravo and Dhoni will take Chennai to a respectable total but a double-wicket over from Kumar Kartikeya has put those hopes to rest now. It is all about MS Dhoni now and how much he can score from hereon. Mumbai will be pretty happy with their performance so far and would be looking to wrap this up as quickly as possible. Ramandeep Singh is into the attack now.

Ramandeep Singh to Maheesh Theekshana, That was a snorter! Shorter and on middle, this one takes off. Maheesh Theekshana is taken by surprise. He looks to fend it away, it goes off the higher part of the bat on the leg side for one.

Ramandeep Singh to MS Dhoni, Shorter and on off, this is pushed through covers for one.

Maheesh Theekshana is the next man in.

Kumar Kartikeya to Maheesh Theekshana, A dot to end! On middle, defended.

Kumar Kartikeya to Simarjeet Singh, ! THREE REDS AND Simarjeet Singh HAS TO WALK BACK! That looked out! It lands on off and then turns back in. Simarjeet Singh looks to defend but does so outside the line. He misses and it hits the pad. A huge appeal and the finger is raised. Simarjeet Singh does review it but to no avail.

Kumar Kartikeya to Simarjeet Singh, Two more! On middle, Simarjeet Singh works it through square leg for two.

Kumar Kartikeya to Simarjeet Singh, Flatter and on off, blocked.

Simarjeet Singh is the next man in.

Kumar Kartikeya to Dwayne Bravo, ! CAUGHT! What a catch that is! Absolutely brilliant! Bravo can't believe it. He would have been certain this is racing away after he hit it. A lucky wicket for Kumar Kartikeya as he gets one off a full toss. On off, Bravo looks to go over covers. He hits it really well. Tilak Varma is quite close in. He though leaps, stretches his hands upwards and takes it brilliantly. Much-needed wicket. The stand was really going well.

Kumar Kartikeya to Dwayne Bravo, ! That is a big one! He was not comfortable against Kumar Kartikeya but this will make him feel really good! Steps out, gets to the pitch of it and tonks it over the mid-wicket fence.

Jasprit Bumrah to MS Dhoni, A dot to end and they have negotiated Bumrah's over without losing a wicket. That was probably their goal in this one. A short one and on middle, Dhoni ducks under it.

Jasprit Bumrah to Dwayne Bravo, Takes one now! Angled into the pads, Bravo works it through square leg and takes one.

Jasprit Bumrah to Dwayne Bravo, Make that 4 dots in a row! Back of a length and on off, Bravo guides it to point.

Jasprit Bumrah to Dwayne Bravo, Three dots in a row! Shorter and on off, Bravo pushes it to covers.

Jasprit Bumrah to Dwayne Bravo, Angled into the pads, Bravo is beaten for pace as he tries to flick. Gets hit on the pads.

Jasprit Bumrah to Dwayne Bravo, BEATEN! Bravo was late on that! Fuller and outside off, Bravo looks to drive but is beaten.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, Two more! Outside off, Dhoni guides it past point. Takes the first one quickly, turns and completes the second too. Outstanding running.

Kumar Kartikeya to Dwayne Bravo, Safe! Bravo is not that comfortable against Kumar Kartikeya! He steps out, looks to go over long off but ends up slicing it towards the sweeper cover fielder. This does not carry and a run is taken.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, Shorter and on off, this is pushed through covers for one.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, BEATEN! Flatter and outside off, this one turns away. Dhoni looks to cut but is beaten.

Kumar Kartikeya to Dwayne Bravo, In the air... safe! Bravo steps out, he does not get to the pitch of the ball. Looks to defend, it goes uppishly but wide of cover and down to long off for one.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, On the pads, flatter, Dhoni looks to to play it fine on the leg side, he misses, it hits the pad and a leg bye is taken as the ball rolls on the leg side.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, Flatter and on off, Dhoni hangs back and pushes it through covers for one. Two good overs in a row for Chennai.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, Floats it up on off, blocked.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, WIDE! Dhoni though will feel he missed out! This is fired down the leg side. Dhoni looks to sweep but misses. Wided. Had he got bat on that, would have been a boundary.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, Steps out, this is fired on the pads, Dhoni works it to mid-wicket.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, Two more! Leg byes! On off, this one turns back in nicely. It hits the pad of Dhoni as he tries to flick, it goes fine for two.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, ! Over the fence! Dhoni is batting with a lot of intent against the spinners! Uses his feet, gets to the pitch of it and heaves it over the mid-wicket fence. They need him to play long here. He has started off really well.

Hrithik Shokeen to Dwayne Bravo, Leading edge but safe! On middle, comes slow off the surface. Bravo looks to flick it but does so early. It goes off a soft leading edge through mid on for one.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, ! We saw power on the last ball and now a deft touch! Shorter and outside off, Dhoni waits and then guides it past point. This one races away too. A good end to the over and Chennai will need a lot more of these.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, ! Dhoni power! This is right in his arc, a lot of flight given, this is on middle, it is heaved over the mid-wicket fielder for a boundary.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, Was there bat? Dhoni steps out, the length is shortened. Dhoni looks to defend. Not sure if he gets an inside edge onto the pads. It lobs towards cover but lands short.

Strategic Break! And breathe! What a start it is to the El-Clasico and it is Mumbai on the front foot. They have sent Chennai's half of the team back. MS Dhoni is still out there and he needs to bat almost till the end to take his team to a respectable total.

Kumar Kartikeya to MS Dhoni, Half an appeal but nothing! On the pads, Dhoni looks to defend but is beaten and gets hit on the pads.

Kumar Kartikeya is brought into the attack now.

Kumar Kartikeya to Dwayne Bravo, Slightly shorter and on off, this is pushed through covers for one.

Kumar Kartikeya to Dwayne Bravo, Flatter and on middle, defended.

Riley Meredith to Dwayne Bravo, DROP AND RUN! Length and on off, Bravo pushes it towards point and takes one. He is off the mark.

Riley Meredith to Dwayne Bravo, BEATEN AGAIN! We are in the 8th over and the ball is still doing a bit. On off, this shapes away. Bravo is beaten all ends up as he tries to defend.

Riley Meredith to Dwayne Bravo, BEATEN! That is a beauty! The ball is still swinging. Length and on off, this one shapes away. Bravo is beaten as he tries to defend.

Riley Meredith to Dwayne Bravo, FIVE WIDES! That has really taken off! Bonus runs though for Chennai and this will help their cause a little. This is short and down the leg side, this keeps rising. Kishan leaps but it hits his glove and goes down to the fine leg fence.

    Dwayne Bravo walks out.

Riley Meredith to Shivam Dube, ! TAKEN! Another one bites the dust and Riley Meredith gets his revenge! This is a really good short ball. Bends his back on this one. Bangs it short and on middle, this one comes at an awkward height for Dube who looks to ramp it. It goes off the top edge and Kishan takes a good leaping catch. Mumbai all over Chennai now.

Riley Meredith to Shivam Dube, ! That has been cracked! What a shot! Dube was probably waiting for the short ball and it did come, Dube rocks back and hammers it over the mid-wicket fielder for a boundary.

Riley Meredith to Shivam Dube, Shorter and outside off, Dube looks to cut but ends up chopping it on the off side.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, Slightly shorter and pitches it on middle. The ball turns into Dhoni. He goes back and looks to work it towards the leg side but the ball bounces and hits him high on the pads.

Hrithik Shokeen to MS Dhoni, Goes fuller on middle again. Dhoni works it towards the leg side.

Hrithik Shokeen to Shivam Dube, Fuller on middle. Dube works it to long on for a single.

Hrithik Shokeen to Shivam Dube, A flatter and quicker one on off. Dube blocks it off the front foot.

Hrithik Shokeen to Shivam Dube, Just over the cover fielder! This is fuller, around off. Dube drives it uppishly and just over the cover fielder. Tristan Stubbs in the deep runs to his right and dives to keep it to just two runs.

    Hrithik Shokeen to bowl now.

Riley Meredith to Shivam Dube, A full delivery on middle. Dube flicks it through mid-wicket for a couple.

Shivam Dube is the new man in.

Riley Meredith to Ambati Rayudu, ! CAUGHT BEHIND! Another wicket and Chennai have lost half of their side for just 29 runs here! This is a dream start for Mumbai and Ambati Rayudu who was looking good walks back disappointed. This one lands on a good length, around off. It nips back in a bit. Ambati Rayudu looks to defend. The ball catches the inside edge of his blade. Just a faint edge and Ishan Kishan behind the stumps takes the catch. Chennai will need a special effort to get to a

Riley Meredith to Ambati Rayudu, ! Superb shot from Ambati Rayudu! A fullish delivery, around off. Ambati Rayudu drives on the up and creams it through covers for a boundary.

Riley Meredith to Ambati Rayudu, Starts with a full delivery on off. Bit of shape away from the batter. Ambati Rayudu blocks it out.

Riley Meredith comes into the attack now.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, Dot to end the over! 8 runs and a wicket off the over! Full and on middle, pushed back to the bowler who half-stops but mid on comes across.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, Length and on off. Blocked to covers.

Daniel Sams to MS Dhoni, Wide! Another one down the leg side and Dhoni lets it through.

MS Dhoni walks out at number 6.

Daniel Sams to Ruturaj Gaikwad, ! CAUGHT BEHIND! Mumbai are all over Chennai here! Ruturaj Gaikwad will be disappointed with his shot. Sams serves a length ball, way down the leg side. Gaikwad could have left it but tries to flick it away and gets some part of the bat. Ishan Kishan behind takes it with ease. Chennai are four down now and Wankhede is roaring Mumbai, Mumbai, Mumbai.

Will Sams bowl his third over? Yes, he will.

Jasprit Bumrah to Ambati Rayudu, Edged! Shorter and on middle. Ambati Rayudu looks to pull but gets a top edge over the keeper. Riley Meredith in the deep does well to save a couple of runs. 11 runs off the over.

Jasprit Bumrah to Ambati Rayudu, On a length and around leg. Rayudu looks to pull but misses. Mumbai appeals but nothing given.

Jasprit Bumrah to Ambati Rayudu, ! This is on a length and outside off, it nips away. Rayudu opens the face of the bat and guides it past second slip and wide of short third man for a boundary.

Jasprit Bumrah to Ruturaj Gaikwad, An in-angler, on the shorter side. Gaikwad nudges it behind square on the leg side for one.

Jasprit Bumrah to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Follows a fuller delivery with a bouncer, outside off. Gaikwad leaves it alone.

Jasprit Bumrah to Ruturaj Gaikwad, ! Lovely shot! Pitches it up, around off. Gaikwad leans and drives it through covers, beats the infield and bags a boundary.

Daniel Sams to Ambati Rayudu, Just a single off it then! This is a superb start for Mumbai! Pressure from both ends! On middle, on a length. Rayudu keeps it out.

Daniel Sams to Ambati Rayudu, Length ball, angling across. Rayudu shoulders arms to it.

Daniel Sams to Ambati Rayudu, Around middle, it is tucked to mid-wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah to Ambati Rayudu, Full ball, on off. Rayudu blocks it.

Jasprit Bumrah to Robin Uthappa, ! LBW! A huge appeal for LBW and up goes the finger! Uthappa wants to review but unfortunately, he has to walk away. This looks so sad from Chennai's point of view. Bumrah spitting fire here though! He serves a length ball, around middle and off. Uthappa hangs back to work it on the leg side but misses and gets rapped on the front pad. A huge appeal from Mumbai and the dreaded finger is raised. Chennai three down in the matter of just 10 balls.

Jasprit Bumrah to Robin Uthappa, Dot ball again! Three dots then! This is fuller and outside off. Uthappa swings in the wrong line and misses.

Jasprit Bumrah to Robin Uthappa, This is much closer and again Uthappa fails to connect. On a length and outside off, it nips away off the deck. Uthappa lunges to block but misses.

Jasprit Bumrah will start from the other end.

Jasprit Bumrah to Robin Uthappa, Bumrah angles a length ball, outside off and makes it move away. Uthappa prods to defend but gets beaten on the outside edge.

This is a huge blow for Chennai and courtesy of a very unusual reason. There is powercut issue at the stadium and that is why DRS could not be taken as Devon Conway was given LBW. It looked sliding down leg to the naked eye and Chennai camp will be very disappointed.

Daniel Sams to Robin Uthappa, An eventful first over comes to an end. Length and on off. Uthappa drops it to point for a single. Mumbai on the front-foot here.

Daniel Sams to Robin Uthappa, On a length and on middle. Defended out.

Daniel Sams to Robin Uthappa, Wide! Down the leg side. Left alone.

Robin Uthappa is the next man in.

Daniel Sams to Moeen Ali, ! CAUGHT! This is a dream start for Mumbai as they get another wicket. Sams bangs a short ball on middle. Ali is caught in two minds, to pull or to sit under it but ends up playing it straight to mid-wicket where Hrithik Shokeen takes a dolly. A loose shot from Moeen Ali and he gives away his wicket. Sams on fire here.

Daniel Sams to Moeen Ali, Wide! Short in length and outside off, shaping away. Left alone.

Moeen Ali is the next man in.

Daniel Sams to Moeen Ali, On a length and on off. Ali blocks it out.

Daniel Sams to Devon Conway, ! LBW! Mumbai strike in the very first over and Devon Conway cannot even think of reviewing it as the DRS is not available due to some power-cut issue (Simon Doull on-air informs). Sams serves a full ball, slanting around middle and leg. Conway looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the pads. A huge appeal and up goes the finger. Devon Conway walks back on a golden duck.

Daniel Sams to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sams start with a full ball, angling around middle. Gaikwad wrists it to mid on for a single. Chennai are underway.

We are all set to begin! Mumbai players are in huddle and they disperse now to take their respective positions. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad are the openers for Chennai. Daniel Sams will start with the ball for Mumbai. Here we go....

So Mumbai have finally decided to drop Kieron Pollard and young Tristan Stubbs who impressed everyone in the CSA T20 Challenge 2022 is being given an opportunity. Chennai, on the other hand, are looking quite settled and would be hoping that their openers fire yet again today.

MS Dhoni, the skipper of Chennai, says that batting first have worked well for them so far. Informs that they are playing the same team. Tells that Jadeja is kind of a player who allows them to try out different combinations with his all-round skills. Mentions that they give respect to each and every game and that is the best way to prepare and irrespective of the opposition they try to prepare in the same way.

Mumbai (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma (C), Ishan Kishan (WK), Tilak Varma, Tristan Stubbs (On debut) (In place of Kieron Pollard), Ramandeep Singh, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Kumar Kartikeya, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith, Hrithik Shokeen (In place of Murugan Ashwin).

Chennai (Unchanged Playing XI) - Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Shivam Dube, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C) (WK), Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Dwayne Bravo, Simarjeet Singh, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of Mumbai, says they will bowl first due to the nature of the ground. Informs they have made a couple of changes keeping an eye on the future. Informs Pollard is not playing as Stubbs replaces him. Hrithik Shokeen comes in for Ashwin. Mentions that they had a conversation with Pollard, he came up and was ready for it. They want to try a few youngsters and see what they have to offer. On the pitch, he says it looks good and hopes it stays the same throughout. Tells tha

TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favour of Mumbai. They have elected to BOWL first.

Tristan Stubbs, the South African is seen getting his cap in the Mumbai huddle. So expect at least one change in the Mumbai lineup.

    ... MATCH DAY …

It is Mumbai locking horns against Chennai. Arguably the biggest rivalry of this tournament. This time around though, one will be playing for pride and the other to keep its tournament alive. Mumbai who are already out will look to spoil Chennai’s party whereas Chennai need to win all their games if they are to have a chance of going through. Despite not a lot being at stake for one, the intensity won’t drop and we expect a cracker. Welcome to the coverage.

PITCH REPORT - Matthew Hayden is near the pitch. He says the heat is not there but the humidity is outrageous. Adds there is live grass and the pacers will enjoy it. Mentions that the spinners will not be amongst the wicket. Ends by saying that 170-run on this wicket could be quite achievable.

Chennai seem to have rediscovered their mojo with Conway and Gaikwad firing at the top of the order. Their bowling too is now looking settled with Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh bowling well in the Powerplay. They will though miss the services of Ravindra Jadeja due to an injury for the rest of the season. Mumbai, on the other hand, would like their batting group to fire and especially their skipper, Rohit Sharma who is due for a big score.

A win for Chennai will also confirm that Mumbai will be finishing last this season. They would surely want to avoid the wooden spoon. Also, they would not want Chennai to do the double over them. Stay tuned for the toss…
