New Delhi: Bombay High Court on Thursday sought the probe of the CBI to investigate the Jiah Khan suicide case. The matter has been pending over a year now, and the court now has now given orders to solve the matters as quickly as possible.
Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, has been charged with abetting the actress' suicide. Jiah`s mother, Rabiya Khan had claimed that her daughter was murdered and has alleged that some higher officials were preventing the truth to come to light. She had pleaded to the court, an independent organisation should take up the case. Also she admitted that was not too happy with the results of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) Bombay High Court has transferred the probe to CBI, so that the final decision can be taken on July 10. The Juhu police has already filed a charge-sheet against Sooraj Pancholi, charging him under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code for abetting Jiah`s suicide. Jiah, an American citizen, was found dead at her Juhu home on June 3 in 2013. The police had arrested Suraj on June 10 on the basis of a six-page letter, purportedly written by Jiah on the status of her relationship with Suraj, which was found in her house. Juhu police on January 16 this year filed a 447-page chargesheet in the court of a local metropolitan magistrate in suburban Andheri and the case was subsequently transferred to the sessions court for trial. With the Bombay High Court now ordering CBI to investigate the charges, the matter is expected to resolve sooner.
