Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter farewell’ goes on sale

JK Rowling’s unofficial farewell to Harry Potter goes on sale.

London, Dec 03: Harry Potter author JK Rowling’s new charity book, which is her unofficial farewell to the boy wizard’s adventures, goes on sale on Wednesday.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which finds a mention in the final Potter book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, comprises of five fairy tales.
One of the five tales is ‘The Tale of the Three Brothers’ that contains clues that were to prove crucial to Potter’s final mission to destroy Lord Voldemort. The tome will be distributed by Bloomsbury in Britain, and by Scholastic in the US. “The Tales of Beedle the Bard is really a distillation of the themes found in the Harry Potter books, and writing it has been the most wonderful way to say goodbye to a world I loved and lived in for 17 years,” the Sun quoted Rowling as writing in the sale catalogue for the auctioned copy. The British tabloid also said that proceeds from the book would go to vulnerable kids in Eastern Europe. Rowling hopes that the tome will make millions for The Children’s High Level Group (CHLG), which she co-founded with European parliamentarian Emma Nicholson. After their costs are covered, publishers and retailers will give all net profits to the charity, which campaigns to protect and promote children’s rights across Europe. ANI
