British musician gets one mn fans on YouTube

London: A 20-year-old Briton has become the first musician in the country to get a million fans on YouTube.

Charlie McDonnell, who plays the guitar-like ukulele, makes his videos in his own room, The Sun reported. One of the videos on his channel "charlieissocoollike" provides a musical step-by-step guide to make a cup of tea. McDonnell`s videos have notched up 170 million views. He opened his channel four years ago, using a webcam and laptop. He now earns royalties from advertisers like L`Oreal. He has also been flown to California by animation movie studio Pixar to make videos about its latest releases. "I try to make my videos more personal, like I`m speaking to one person rather than a big audience. It`s hard to wrap my head around the fact a million people are watching the stuff I make," he said.
