Amy to spend New Year in hospital

London: British singer Amy Winehouse may have to spend her New Year`s Eve in a hospital bed as she is reportedly battling a horrible chest infection. Worried friends and family of the `Back To Black` hitmaker reportedly pleaded with her to seek help after she spent much of the Christmas holiday drinking heavily alone while battling a chest infection, Contactmusic reported.

"Amy is in a bit of a state at the moment, she`s feeling very sad and lonely. She is also extremely emotional. She`s spent a lot of time over Christmas at home on her own drinking," a source said. "Amy`s been battling an acute chest infection for weeks and it`s really starting to take a toll on her health. Amy has wound herself up into such a state she knows her best place for her is in the hospital. She needs to dry out and stop drinking," the source added. The 26-year-old singer, who has angered her family by reuniting with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil collapsed at her home. "The last week has been a massive setback for Amy who was really turning a corner. Everyone in her camp is shocked by what has happened. But their main concern is making sure she feels better. Then she can throw herself into her music. The new year isn`t getting off to the best start but Amy is determined and she`ll keep looking forward," a friend said. PTI
