Tiruchirapalli: Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi today called for a joint effort by state governments, media and film industry to combat the menace of piracy, which he said, was causing enormous losses to the film industry."It is unfortunate that state governments are not taking any action against piracy. It is high time that joint action is taken by governments, media as well as the film industry.
Asked about the future of cinema in the wake of the popularity of the small screen and Internet and easy availability of pirated CD`s, he said Indian cinema would see better patronage as long as audiences realised that movies like `Prince` (in which he is the hero) can be enjoyed only at theatres because of the sound effects and special effects.
He described as remote his chances of entering the Tamil film industry as he prefers multi-lingual films like `Prince.` Oberoi said he did not plan to enter Hollywood, saying he very happy and proud to be an Indian and act in films in the country. He ranked tamil superstar Rajanikanth as the greatest hero he has ever come across and said he also has great regard admiration for the professional approach of Kamal Hasan. Earlier, he played a trailer of his movie Prince, to be simultaneously released tomorrow in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. PTI
