New Delhi: An Indian youth who had left home in Kerala to join the Islamic State group has been killed in a drone attack in Afghanistan, a meida report said on Sunday.

The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Hafiz.

Hafiz was one of the 21 youths who had gone missing last year from their native Kerala.

They were said to have joined the ISIS.

According to News18, Afghan authorities have informed Hafiz's family through a telegram message.

The Indian government has not so far confirmed the reports but the Indian High Commission in Kabul said that it was in touch with the local authorities for information.

“We are in touch with local agencies here. Difficult to verify as those are inaccessible places for them,” the report quoted a source at the Indian high commission as saying.

Of the 21 missing Keralites, 17 were reportedly from Kasaragod and four from Palakkad. They include four women and three children.
