To discuss the pandemic the powerful G20 held a virtual meeting on March 26, 2020, to chart the way forward and to come up with useful solutions to avoid global economy recession.
The G20 leaders vowed to do whatever it takes to defeat the coronavirus pandemic, protect lives, safeguard jobs and income of millions across the world. In India the death toll due to coronavirus COVID-19 rose to 17 and the number of cases surged to 724 with 66 recovered cases and 1 migrant patient as per the Union Health Ministry data. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24 announced a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, in a desperate measure to contain the spread of the virus.

Mumbai records another death due to coronavirus COVID-19 taking death toll to five in state. An 85-year-old person succumbed to the deadly virus. Total number of positive cases in state stands at 153--Mumbai (51), Sangli (24), Pune (18), Pimpri Chinchwad (13), Navi Mumbai (6), Kalyan Dombivili (6), Thane (5), Nagpur (9), Panvel (2), Yavatmal (4) and Ahmadnagar (3).
The total number of coronavirus patients in Maharashtra has increased to 153. On Friday, five patients were found positive in Mumbai and one in Navi Mumbai.
