Muslim cleric thrashed by mob in Ranchi, forced to chant 'Jai Sri Ram'

The Muslim youth was attacked while he was returning home from evening prayers in Ranchi.

RANCHI: A young Muslim cleric was thrashed by some unidentified miscreants in Jharkhand capital Ranchi district, reports said on Wednesday. 

According to ANI, the Muslim youth was attacked while he was returning home from evening prayers.

He was intercepted by a group of unidentified people who thrashed him and forced him to chant ''Jai Sri Ram.''

He has been hospitalised and is being attended by doctors.

Narrating the whole incident, his father said, "While returning home from evening prayers some people attacked him. He was asked to chant 'Jai Shri Ram'.''

The victim's father, however, requested people to maintain peace and not take law in their hands.

''I request everyone to maintain peace and not take law in hands,'' he said.
