Raipur: Two Naxals carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads, were arrested today from separate places in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Dantewada district, police said.

While a cadre identified as Madvi Mangu (23) was apprehended from Surnar forest under Katekalyan police station limits, another rebel Hapka Raju was nabbed from Dantewada town, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI.

Acting on inputs, a joint team of state's District Reserve Group (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) was conducting a search operation in Katekalyan region when they spotted Mangu near Surnar village and rounded him up, the S P said.

After joining the outlawed naxal movement since 2007, he was active as member of Dumam LOS (local operation squad) under Katekalyan Area Committee of Maoists.

During this period, he had been involved in several attacks on police party besides damaging the government property, he added.

In a separate incident, deputy commander of supply wing of west Bastar division of Maoists Raju was arrested from Dantewada market where he had arrived to procure commodities of daily use for ultras, the SP said.

Their interrogation may reveal crucial details about the status of naxal movement in the area, he added.
