BJP tried to strike deal with opposition over Land Bill, alleges AAP

A day before the 21-day Monsoon Session of the Parliament begins; Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dilip Pandey on Monday slammed the Central government over its efforts to pass the contentious Land Acquisition Bill.

New Delhi: A day before the 21-day Monsoon Session of the Parliament begins; Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dilip Pandey on Monday slammed the Central government over its efforts to pass the contentious Land Acquisition Bill.

"The efforts to pass the Land Acquisition Bill in the Parliament seemed more about striking a deal with the opposition than about passing the Bill. Please remember how Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded the opposition of how they supported the MNREGA. What is going on here?" Pandey told ANI.

Earlier on Sunday, top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders met at the Prime Minister`s official 7, Race Course Road (RCR) residence here to discuss the party`s strategy ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament.

The party leadership reportedly discussed the strategy for the session as opposition parties have closed their ranks against the government on various issues, including the Vyapam scam, Lalit Modi controversy and the Socio Economic and Caste Census.

While the BJP-led NDA commands a sizeable majority in the Lok Sabha, it lacks numbers in the Rajya Sabha where opposition holds the key to passage of important legislations, including Goods and Services Tax and Land bill.
