New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that the Central Government was 'serious' about reacting to the recent attacks on security forces by terrorist groups in the northeastern region, adding that the state police and central forces should work together to tackle the problem.

"We are taking the recent attacks by terrorist groups in Northeastern states very seriously. We are discussing how to tackle such problems. In Arunachal, the security forces repelled the attack and there were no causalities. The state police and Central forces have to work together to tackle the problem. We are discussing on how to bring peace in the region," Rijiju told mediapersons here this morning.

Cadres of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland - Khaplang faction (NSCN-K) had on Sunday attacked the army camp at Laju in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.

According to reports, the army was alerted of the attack by intelligence inputs and when the militants struck, they were repelled with force. Around 60-70 empty cartridges of AK 47 bullets and two Naphod bombs were recovered from the spot.

This incident comes after an attack on army personnel on June 4 in Manipur, which resulted in the death of 18 soldiers.
