Modi govt to take steps for welfare of widows soon: Kalraj Mishra

Mishra said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed towards the welfare of widows and has promised to take steps soon.

Lucknow: Union Minister Kalraj Mishra on Saturday expressed concern over the condition of widows and said the BJP government in near future will take several measures to ensure their dignity and welfare.

Addressing a gathering of widows, who had come here from Vrindavan and Varanasi to take part in a programme to mark the birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister lamented the mindset of the society towards them.

Mishra said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed towards the welfare of widows and has promised to take steps soon.

Prime Minister Modi, during his Varanasi visit yesterday had promised to make provisions for the welfare of widows.

On the occasion, Mishra lauded the efforts being made by Bindeshwar Pathak's Sulabh International for the welfare of widows in Vrindavan and Varanasi.

He asked other organisations to come forward and help old widows.
