Modi govt would complete its full term: Javadekar

Hitting back at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi over his warning to the NDA government, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said the BJP-led NDA government would not only complete its full term but also retain power in the next elections.

Kozhikode: Hitting back at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi over his warning to the NDA government, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said the BJP-led NDA government would not only complete its full term but also retain power in the next elections.

"We will not only complete the full term with the support of the people, but win the next election also," he said.

He was responding to Gandhi's warning at a Youth Congress rally here yesterday that the NDA government would not be able to celebrate its fifth birthday if it functions like present, "ignoring" problems of farmers, labourers and the poor.

Addressing a meeting here to commemorate one year of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Javadekar alleged the previous UPA in its rule had "looted the country of its natural wealth - coal (under ground), CWG (on the ground) and 2G spectrum (air)."

On the contrary, the one-year BJP rule had redeemed the pride of PM's office unlike in the UPA rule, he said, quoting revelations in a book by former TRAI chairman Pradip Baijal.

Listing out the welfare schemes unveiled by the Modi government such as Jan Dhan Yojana and social security schemes, he said there was no discrimination based on caste or religion.

"No discrimination on caste or religious basis was shown by the BJP-led government, it treats all the 120 crore people equally," he said.
