Army busts militant hideout in J&K's Reasi district

Jammu: Army troops Saturday busted a militant hideout in Reasi district in Jammu and Kahsmir and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.

Acting on a tip off, troops of Samote-based Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, Territorial Army and J&K Police carried out search in Kalaban forests of Makhidhar belt in Chasana area and seized a cache of arms and ammunition, a defence spokesman said.

The cache included one AK 56 rifle, one AK 56 magazine, 60 rounds of ammunition of AK 56, 14 rounds of ammunition of PIKA and one Chinese hand grenade, he said.

The search party cordoned off the area after reaching the site and recovered the cache after a gruelling march for over seven hours in rugged mountainous terrain, he said.
