Wanted Maoist neutralised in Jharkhand
Acting on intelligence inputs about presence of Maoists, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with the Jharkhand Police, launched an operation on the intervening night of February 22 and 23 and neutralised wanted Maoist Nitesh, a secretary of Simdega Sub Zone.

Jharkhand: Acting on intelligence inputs about presence of Maoists, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with the Jharkhand Police, launched an operation on the intervening night of February 22 and 23 and neutralised wanted Maoist Nitesh, a secretary of Simdega Sub Zone.
An exchange of fire ensued in which Nitesh, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs. 10 lakhs was neutralised, whose body was found from the spot.
One factory-made carbine was also seized from the site of the encounter.
The slain Maoist belonged to Palamu district of Jharkhand. He has been an active Naxal for the last 10 years and operated in Gumla, Simdega and adjoining regions.
He had been involved in various incidents of attacks on police and killing of innocent civilians.
This came as a severe setback to the Maoists in Bihar and Jharkhand, where 11 Maoists have been neutralised in less than two months, including their prominent leader Chirag Jodhan, military chief of Jamui and Giridih region.
