Finance ministry officials meet on Telgi

New Delhi, Nov 19: Top Finance Ministry officials today met to discuss follow up measures in the Rs 30,000 crore Telgi stamp paper scam involving top officials and politicians in several states.

The ministry officials were tight-lipped on the
deliberations at the meeting which lasted for about an hour,
describing it as an "internal meeting".

Finance Secretary D C Gupta had earlier said government
was contemplating incorporating more security features in
stamp papers besides amendments to stamp paper laws.

The meeting is understood to have discussed measures to
investigate the possible involvement of income tax officials
as well. CBDT Chairman P L Singh and Joint Secretary U K Sinha
were among those who attended the meeting.
