Governance to be BJP's poll plank in assembly, LS polls: Advani

New Delhi, Oct 29: Governance will be the main issue for BJP in the coming assembly polls and the subsequent Lok Sabha elections a year later, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said here today.

New Delhi, Oct 29: Governance will be the main issue for BJP in the coming assembly polls and the subsequent Lok Sabha elections a year later, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said here today.
"Those who have provided good governance should be
elected and those who have failed should be voted out," he
said addressing a function organised by Delhi BJP president
Madan Lal Khurana for celebration of Diwali.

Noting that the BJP had started focussing on governance
instead of political issues since 1997, Advani said it was
bearing fruits.

"Since we are not talking of political issues, our
opponents are also not raising such issues," he said.

Referring to assembly polls in Goa earlier this year,
Advani said BJP's political opponents had raised political
issues, raking up Gujarat incidents and claiming that
minorities were not safe under BJP rule.

On the other hand, BJP leader Manohar Parrikar told
people that they had seen his governance once and if they felt
it was good they should vote for the party, he said adding
this issue clicked.

BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu said the coming assembly
polls in five states would impact upon the national polity
although these would have no bearing on the party-led Central
government.

He said new political equations would emerge after these
elections.
