Lt Gen M Puri takes over as Dy Chief of Army Staff

New Delhi, Feb 28: Kargil war hero Lt Gen Mohinder Puri today took over as the new Deputy Chief of the Army Staff in place of Lt Gen JBS Yadava.
Puri, who was till recently the Military Secretary, will be in-charge of Information Systems and Training.
He is credited with smooth implementation of the AV Singh Committee report in the Army.
Puri commanded a mountain division in Kargil during Operation Vijay and also a corp in the Western Sector.
