New Delhi, Sept 15: As part of the exercise to rejuvenate the party, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu today appointed Manohar Kant Dhyani and Yashpal Mahajan as chiefs of
the state units of Uttaranchal and Chandigarh respectively.

While Dhyani, a member of Rajya Sabha, succeeds Puran
Chand Sharma, Mahajan, who was convenor of the Chandigarh unit, has now been elevated as president, Naidu told reporters after a meeting of the party's central office bearers here.

The change in Uttaranchal was imminent following the
party's debacle in the first assembly elections in the new
state carved out of Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier this week, the party had appointed union minister
Vasundhare Raje as the president of Rajasthan unit.

On the criticism of Raje's appointment by a senior party
leader and Bharatpur MP, Naidu said the party has taken note of it and asked party vice-president Ramdas Agarwal and general secretary Arun Jaitley to gather "first hand
information" on what exactly he had said.

"We will be getting the report in a day or two," he said.
